What is difference between Publisher and Advertiser?

I am a graduate, I have finished my graduation recently, I have little bit idea about Internet Marketing, I become an Internet Market Analyst, this is my dream, I don't have any source to learn internet marketing, recently i attended for the post of SEM, in that premises the interview asked me What is difference between Publisher and Advertiser? I didn't give answer to him. So Please convey some websites to learn SEM

Well, if I can answer your question. The publisher is usually the blogger/website owner/content creator who usually creates a buzz about a product. The advertiser pays the publisher to do such a thing. Depending on the strength of the publisher, the amount of money earnt could be quite a sizable amount (£500 a blog post or soemthing like that), and the publisher could be put in a position where they don't have a say in whether the buzz can be positive or negative.

Excellent explanation Livetech. This Publisher and Advertiser term is also used in affiliate marketing, when you get to the site to signup, you are asked if you want to signup and a publisher or as and advertisers.
