the worst problem is COPY AND PASTE

The main reason for most of the
REALLY invalid XHTML pages out there, is that authors who have no clue
about XHTML simply copy and pasted their DOCTYPE from another
document. So even if you write valid XHTML, by using XHTML, you are
likely to encourage authors who do not know enough to write valid
XHTML to claim to do so.so dont do that...

I agree another problem iv noticed is a lot use the w3 validator & then when it comes back invalid they use the tidy html option to re-write the whole code for them to be xhtml, however you can tell these certain ones as they lack the intellectual knowledge to remove the meta generator tag which states they have used it
