Hi i'm very new to all this ,
Q. how can i find out the person/company that is looking after another person's web site, like doing the optimiseing of it, i cant ask the person as we are the same trade, and he has great top listing on serach eng's.

Ok if i cant do this how can i find out how links i have, please bear with me im very new?
have tryed submit express its saying i have no links untrue also Marketleap Search Engine Marketing Tools, saying i have only a few and none next time i check, is there another site i can check on, thanks

To allow your site to compete with a competitor ( which if ive understood you correctly thats what you are looking for ?) then a good start is to see what your competitor has done interms of link building.

You can see what your competitor has linking to his site by searching this command in google :

link:yourcompetitor.com for the most relevant linkbacks or to see all of the sites links just type the URL into here :

That will tell you everything you need to know to get started in competing.

Do a search in google for SEO and read anything and everything to get more tips, Onpage optimisation is just as important as off page.
