I actually use to run adult hosting back in the day: hostf*ck.com if anyone remembers it. It became really big (top 2k alexa) but I could never monetize it and I kept getting abuse, copyright infringements, child pornography, etc. which is really hard to deal with and not worth the money.

There is nothing wrong with adult sites and you can probably get away with hosting it at a regular host... if you aren't doing anything wrong, there shouldn't be a problem.
