There are many hosting platforms when it comes to web hosting service. However, the most popular is Linux and Windows and you can choose one between them as per your requirements.

If you intend to host your site using ASP, FrontPage, ASP.NET environment, Windows Streaming Media, Access, MS SQL Server, or any of the other Microsoft’s owned technologies then you should opt for Windows hosting.
