Default Rave about 1and1!!! :(

This is the first time I've experienced major problem with 1and1 and I have to scream about it...

As I said before all my domains registered with them but hosted on multiple servers. Couple of weeks back I received email from theirs billing department that my credit card on file has expired. Right away I went online and updated credit card info for my account. Instead of confirmation message I got some message about server error. I did not pay much attention because I went on my credit card website and saw that 1and1 put $6 hold on it - just like they said they will to verify credit card.

So... Yesterday I was wondering why I only received 2-3 emails when usually I get about 50 from all of my domains... Sure enough - ALL domains hosted on 1and1 are locked and show 404 errors. Same with email - don't get anything from 1and1 mail servers.

I logged in to my hosting account and as expected - my whole hosting package is locked and billing info still showing old expired credit card...

After updating CC info I called billing department, waited on hold for about 20 minutes and they "said as a courtesy" they will unlock my account within an hour...

What kind of bull$$ is that?? Theirs own website had problem storing credit card info and because the could not renew ONE DOMAIN they locked WHOLE HOSTING ACCOUNT??

I think it's time for me to move on from there...

Don't put all your eggs in one basket mate, domain names in particular, its always better to register it with a company that is NOT your hosting company.

I use 1 & 1 for my domain reg but would not use them for hosting, your not the first to have problem with them.

Myself included that's why i dont host with them, even with the domains I still get billing problems, like being billed twice and even having my norton subscription terminated a couple of times and then to top it off billing 3 times for the same service.

So I understand you for not being happy....

Mike

What pi$$ed me off more than anything else - they could not get in $6.99 charge for one domain renewal and they took off line my WHOLE HOSTING ACCOUNT with 57 domains on it and hosting paid for 3 month ahead...

put your domains in a single webhost. it's better to host them on multiple webhosts

Good old 1&1, never fail to disappoint!!

They are the worse place (apart from Yahoo!) to buy domains....ever!!, especially if your a trader.

Last time I brought a domain from someone it was at 1&1 and I ended up literally going to their HQ because they pissed me off so much on the phone/email.

Probably the worse company in the UK to do business with. Not sure what their hosting is like tho.
