Unless and until you receive back link from your own published article, you are at a great risk of receiving duplicate penalty.

I barely do Article Submissions, but when I used to, my site does not have a copy of the article, so I am not penalized. And the article has links going to my site.

Changes like that are not recommended. It is better to add some new pages with the better titles.
