How has SEO helped you make money online?

Since you started focusing on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) (link building) have you made more money online? I am talking about link building, posting comments in blogs and leaving content in forums with signature links. Do you think you could make money online just focusing on Quantity of content? Everyone says content is king with Google. Could you make money online with just content and not link building? What do you think?

Maybe it would be harder if we rely on just creating contents without marketing it, unless if it's good enough and people are willing to link without you actively request for link exchange.

It would be stupid to build content without marketing your site. That is like asking 'would you enjoy your Porsche 911 if you couldn't use petrol

I know several web owners that state a website is about content only and they refuse to link build or use any SEO at all.

Creating content is fine. Sometimes you can collect backlinks through that. But most peoplewho have websites use SEO/SEM. be it making posts in forums, or blogging etc, it is all link building. If a site has no links, then it is only likely to appear for obscure long tail searches, and also it will be limited as to how many pages stay in the index.

Refusing to build links is crazy. What is the point in having a site if ytou are not going to let people know about it?

Suppose you hve build a site which has great content,but no title no meta tags written, how that site will gain popularity. It will take lot of time in gaining popularity and earning if we do not apply any seo tactics.

what is the benefit of having good and quality content if it is not visible to them it is meant for. Content is of use if and only if someone is reading it. If none is reading then what and where the content who cares. No doubt content is king but king do need soldiers to win a battle. If you want users visit your site and read your quality content you need to do seo. Here you will get the advantage of your quality content which will attract your visitor and s/he will become one of your returning visitor.

You can really get traffic for your site if your site has a quality content. Though having just a content is not that much enough. You must also do some link building to get referrals from other sites.
