I think tag a thread is a fun way of promoting a froum, not only because its a deep link but because its focuses on forum only so forum owner, why not tag some of your forum threads at tag a thread

If you want to make your service very popular you may consider to make a vBulletin mod developped in order to let tag the forum threads directly from the boards. Just a tip, maybe it could work

I think Bagi's suggestion is brilliant but porting it into vB will not be easy
