I don't think its good to list anyone's email address publicly but I think its fair to list a persisten spammers email address though

But what about those who register and post once but leave a link to porn?
What is the best way to report these?
As all member IP addresses are recorded is it possible to report these sad people to their ISP's?

Belive me, its usually quicker to just remove the porn link, band the bastard and move on. If you are going to report them to abuse etc etc you will not have time to develop you forum, you will be too busy reporting about every few mins.
You forum software PHPBB in particular is very vulnerable to spamming, perhaps there are some advanced spam filtering system for phpBB I don't know.
In vB what you can do is moderate new users so that they cannot even post at all till you have checked them out and ensure they are not potential spammers, you usally can tell spammers from a mile away when they register.

phbb allows:

Allows user verification, where an email is sent to the user for activation

None: no verification required

Administrator: The administrator needs to approve before the user can start posting. Administrator verification will put new members off and they will go else where.

That is what I mean by phpBB being basic, there lots of other advanced spam filtering function in vB. my old phpBB site, even if I set it to admin approve, sometime people are still listed on the site even before I approve them
