Do not expect it to happen over night. You can make some good money off it but you must work at it first and have the traffic there to get the money.

I did not make any money with my forum
It is also true that it was just a test. So I only made it and took some care about it. As there where other business providing me more money ... I kind of abandoned it.
Sure there where some cent from Adsense ... but that are not money
