Default Thanks X number of times mod

I have started seeing a mod in most vB forum which counts the number of time a user is thanked in a post.

What do you make of it, should we install it? I suppose it shows how helpful a member is by displaying how often you are thanked by other members.

    What do you think?

We use it at SEO.com's forum and it helps a lot. It's just another forum of giving rep.

It helps encourage quality posts and stops post padding.

    I'm all for it.

Sorry what do you mean? Do you mean posting completely useless posts?

Thanks for that feedback KP, if there is no objection from others, I will have the mod installed next week.

    Thanks

I mean if someone posts something that is useful and relevant to that post or op's question, it is simpler and quicker hitting a "thank you" button that is visible to all users, not just the posters when they view their control panel.

Which in turn, from a psychological point of view gives that poster who received the thanks an incentive to carry on posting quality posts rather than crap like....

It also stops all the "nice post" responses and gets interaction from registered lurkers - it is easy to install.

I use it on my Tottenham Forum, generally its a massive bonus as most football fans cant be bothered to add rep and a thank you is much more appealing, Was considering doing it on all my forums but was unsure of the webmasters point of view compared to a football fans, good thread temi
