Default Do You Listen To Music While You Work?

Some workplaces do not allow their employees to listen to music while
on the job. Either because of the close proximity of co-workers, or
because their job entails too much moving from one location to the
next.

Some can't listen to music just because... So I wanted to ask you all
three questions:
  1. Are you allowed to listen to music on your job? (2) Why or why not?
  2. If so, what kind of music do you listen to?

I personally don't like to listen to music while I work. Extremely distracting. Trust me on that. You have much better concentration without music.

I work home so answer to your first question - yes, I do allow myself music in the background.

Depends on the mood... Freddie Mercury, Adriano Celentano, some light pop music

I do listen to music now and again whilst working, it depends on what I'm doing, if its something that required a lot of concentration, I do not play music.

I love all music and do listen to it whilst working. However, and as Temi stated, if you are working on something that requires undivided attention then it is a no no.

I always have some music playing in the background. It makes me feel a bit more relaxed while I'm working

Sometimes music, often times podcasts/video casts (not watching just listening). Music I listen to varies from Eminem, Tupac to Mazart, to Maria Callas opera etc.

I listen music when I remember to turn it on

Most of the time I am so caught up by the work that I do not realize whats happening around me, so either music is playing or not it`s the same thing. Still when I have start posting or researching for links or similar tasks I do turn the music on.
