MAKERS OF the Opera browser have told us that the latest version of its software contains a fix for the Javascript error which is plaguing other browsers.
Yesterday Danish security outfit Secunia said it has found a flaw in most browsers, which tricks users into handing over their passwords. The error, which we reported here, enabled JavaScript dialogue boxes can be built which do not display or include their origin. These allow a new window to open and create a prompt dialogue box, which appears to be from a trusted site. Anyway, while other browsers still have the problem, an Opera spokesman said that its version 8.01, released last week, includes a fix for this probbo. Secunia apparently only made its advisory public after a fixed Opera browser was available. Obviously it didn’t wait for Firefox, IE or Safari to get their collective acts together.
