Asian hackers attack British firms

UK businesses and government departments have been targeted for several months by Asian hackers. It is believed that about 300 government departments and businesses with access to sensitive data have been infected with trojans in the last few months.

UK Businesses are urged to stay alert by the Infrastructure Security Co-ordination Centre (NISCC), but also businesses in the United States seem to be targeted. The attacks mainly come from Asia and involve trojan horses spread through e-mails.

The mails have a genuine subject line and appear to come from familiar people, to make them look like real correspondence. Once opened the trojan horse will be installed on the PC, allowing hackers to remotely control the system.
