Default Email Marketing - where should I begin?

Hi,

I am planning to launch an email marketing on some of my programme. I have not problem of getting email lists, where should I begin after getting all those email? What software or tool I should use?

Some people recommended me to use phplist, anyone got any experiences with that software/script? or does anyone got any other recommendation beside phplist? of course, FREE will be great. Thanks

Well, we use Groupmail in the office. It is free if you only send out 100 emails at a time, but if you want more, you have to pay (around $99 if I can recall).

It is horrendously usable, and it does make sending out e-mails a breeze, the only issue, like most emails sending programs, is that if you are using your server, your server could easily grind to a halt during use.

However, it's the same with all programs, but Groupmail allows you to send it over your outlook connection, or even sending it directly (which nobody will shout at, though unfortunately less e-mails get through).

Other than that, I know a few people use Pommo on these boards too, so you may be interested in that.

I agree with that. However if you have email addresses of people who have stated that they are happy to receive 3rd party mail from another source its not so bad. Still going to get a horrendous success percentage though.

I'm not a believer of that statement, people don't read the T&C before signing up so don't know half of the time their details are going to be shared and when they get an email in their inbox they most likely don't know where the origin of permission came from so still class it as spam. Also people mark mailing list posts they signed up to themselves as spam so it can only have a similar/worse outcome than that IMHO.
