Default In content link v Homepage link

I know that getting link from and existing content or home page are two of the highest quality links you can get.

Has anyone done a test to find out which is the most effective at boosting SERPs?

    Thanks

    Yes !

provided the page is of good enough importance, then a contextual link is the king of the world.

If the homepage is in context with regard content, then obviously a contextual link there is 1005 the best you will get. BUT, if inner pages are better quality then go there.

How do you tell which page is the best to link from ?

    Ask Google

    Yep, contextual.

Not only is it better than a link on the home page but if used correctly it can not only be a powerful links but can form an integral part of your in-link architecture.

Get it right and the spiders will be constantly on your site like flies around....yeah.

AND traffic as well, (which is what it is all about IMO), with a contextual link, you get AMAZINGLY highly qualified traffic to your site.

link from homepage, but not listed at the end of page code should be really good.
If your link is in the begginning part , or marked by <h1> ~<h3> should be better.
Quarlity of contextual link depends on which page the link is on.

Contextual links are what you should seek out first. Failing that, a link on a homepage can be good (homepages usually pass more link juice) but be careful how and where it's placed. Surrounding text (before and after your anchor text link) can help improve the quality of a link, for example.

    The question is

Has anyone done a test to find out which is the most effective at boosting SERPs?
Or does anyone know of a test which proves that contextual is better than homepage?
