European Union regulators have launched an in-depth investigation into Google's $3.1bn (£1.5bn) takeover of online advertising firm DoubleClick.
The EU Commission said its initial probe had shown the deal would raise competition concerns.
It has set itself a deadline of 2 April 2008 to reach a decision.
Google said it would work with the Commission to show how the acquisition would benefit publishers, advertisers and consumers.

I agree and they are doing well but is this a good thing for webmasters
I don't think it will be a good thing for webmasters. Knocking sites out of the serps before they can gain any real strength to boost there own paid link profits. This is an m$ style of tactic trying to strangle the competition into submission i'm sure there will be more to come.
Well i've heard that too but i don't think its gona be done... I think its all rubbish...
Whatever they decide, whatever they do we will all just adjust to however we promote or search engine optimise our websites.
Let them bring it on for another day in the office.
