Where is you company based, that will be a factor SEO company will put into consideration to give you a quote.
The niche of your site will also be considered.

its not that simple to just name a price, there is alot to consider.

First of all you should define the meaning of excellent result. The Price quote may vary upon so many factors some of them are told by temi.
Since how long your site is hosted?
What has been done earlier?
How is your site design?
What is your site's navigation structure? etc.
You should first show your site then someone can check and quote a price.

I would base it on the number of hours I would need to spend optimising a site. A monthly fee works well but there is a lot of effort up front so you need to consider that.

But to give an idea of price really depends on the scope of the optimisation you intend to carry out I guess.

Thats a completely open ended question... a site about what? gambling... lots of money! Plumber in slough... not so much? Its all relative.
