Angry Google Adsense Phone Verification E-mail

Thought I'd make my first post today, since I have something to post about, lol.

Well I wake up this morning to find an email from Google. I rarely get e-mails from Google and always double check to make sure they really are from Google. Anyways the e-mail was basically saying that I haven't Verified my phone number and have 60 days to do so before they close my account and give my earnings back to advertisers. I know for a fact I verified my home address and phone number months ago. Well I went through their help guidelines and stuff and my account doesn't have any of the links that they speak of about verifying my phone number. So this must be a system glitch or something.

Also wanted to note that I got the e-mail twice and one went to an alternative e-mail address that I removed from my account months ago and yet it's still in their system, go figure.

Has anyone had this happen before? If so did they fix it or did you lose out on your account and some earnings?

I already sent support request to Google, but who knows how long that will take.

If they don't fix this, I don't think I will want to go back and use adsense ever again.

Look forward to hearing your responses.

I'm 99% sure it wasn't. Since the link in the email was a link to Google and not another site trying to trick me. That would be pretty hard for a phisher to pull off, although it's possible just highly unlikely. Plus I got the e-mail on 3 e-mail addresses all of which at some point were or are in my Google account.

Here' the e-mail I got:
Quote:
Hello
HelloH ello,

According to our records, you have not yet entered the 6-digit verification code to verify the phone number in your AdSense account. Please be aware that if you do not enter your verification code within the next 60 days, your account will be disabled and your unpaid earnings will be refunded to the appropriate advertisers. For more information on our phone number verification policy, please visit [Google AdSense Phone Verification] <--- was linked.

If you are encountering problems with the verification process, please respond to this email and one of our specialists will be happy to assist you.

Should you wish to close your AdSense account at this time, no further action is required from you. However, we hope you will continue with the program and are looking forward to helping you monetize your website with Google ads.

Sincerely,
The Google AdSense Team
Put a space in "HelloH ello" because it was displaying as blank on preview.

I think the H ello smiley died... lol

The wait goes on to see what Google says...

Yea, Google doesn't do a good job of making it clear really, when you sign up for an account.

I just found this blog that I guess is the official adsense employee blog.

I just checked my account again... I don't have the box there for phone verification that they show in that article and my account standings are over $50.

Now when I log into adsense the front page shows this box (It wasn't there yesterday I'm very sure of it):

Yet when I click the, "more details" link it goes to the payment history page where, the box to do verification is suppose to be yet it isn't. The verification box is in a screen on the blog i posted earlier. I thought maybe it could be a display issue since I was using opera, but I loaded adsense in Firefox and Explorer and still nada.

I'm losing add revenue over this. This is a bad bug on Google's part. They still have yet to contact me back.

Well good news, I finally got an email from the adsense team. They fixed the issue and manually overridden the phone verification requirement, since they did in fact see I already did verify it in the past. So it was a glitch!

Only thing is, all my ads are still forcing the public non profit ads. Maybe it'll take a bit before the system displays normal ads. Hopefully...
