Peel away ads are really cool. At least they were in the beginning...

Arrow Popups vs. Peel Away Ads

It was cool at first because it was a new,but they quickly lost their charm for me. Would be interesting to find out how effective they really are though? In my humble opinion "slide in" pop-ups draw more attention to themselves than a little waving corner (especially on a fair sized monitor).
Apart from that, it is a 2 step process that requires the viewer to take action to see the underlying ad, whilst pop-ups don't (only to close them, of course...).
