    Default web site hits

    For several years I had a web site advertising a club of which I am a member. Despite using key words/meta tags and submitting the site to various search engines the number of hits per month averaged only about 100 .
    I am in the process of setting up a new web site, any ideas for increasing the number of hits.

    target a big enough niche (how big is this club you are a member).

    offer subscription methods to get repeat visitors.

    meta tags will not bring you any traffic and submitting to search engines is not enough.
    You need to concentrate on link building...

    I agree, link building is the surest way to get traffic. SPECIFIC TARGETED LINKS is hundreds of times better than similar untargeted links elsewhere.

    If it is a car club get links from dealerships or other car clubs, etc...

    The first step must be to research your key phrases (Search Terms) to select the potentialy most productive that are axhievable.

    For example:
    widgets => very difficult
    red widgets => getting easier
    red plastic widgets => getting easier still
    red plastic widgets location => now it's achievable
    and so on.

    Describe accurately what you have to offer and where it is. Those who search for a single word, will soon qualify their query and hit your accurate description and location.

    Now build your pages to project those gems of "search phrases"
