I think you answered you own question, the benefit of one way linking applies to this. If you link from root to sub domain its one way, if you link back to root from sub domain, the SEO benefit is sort of reduced.
I had a look around but couldn't quite find the answer i was looking for on this.
I figured that google see's root domain to sub-domain linking as internal linking.
I am well aware of the benefits of one way linking.
Is there any benefit to keeping links from root domain to sub-domain one way?
