Google Groups Just another opportunity for AdSense?

I wonder why Google created Google groups, am I being cynical in thinking its just another opportunity to push their main money making product which is adsense? The hundreds of such groups in existence I wonder why we need even more. Google seem to be violating their own rule about creating unnecessary web pages which is exactly what I think Google groups are.

Trust me, advertisers in, "The Know", are opting OUT of, "Content Match" or, "Adsense". We don't make money paying for window shoppers.

IMHO, this is an act of desperation by Google. They were a great search engine though, back when they, ahhhh... were a search engine. :roll:

Yes, they used to be breath of fresh air when they focused on being a search engine but now its getting boring, they are reinventing the wheel etc. But then again that is what happens when a company floats, you have to keep search for more and more ways to increase value for you share holders
