If a hosting company was to go bankcrupt and closed down but did not inform its customers. So you did not get the chance to trasnfer your domain and hosting.

Is that the end of your website?

Or is there ways to get your domain transferred. e.g. Contact Nominet

I am not in this situation but was just wondering how the system would work.

Contacting Nominet if the hosting company is not responding is the only way to get your domaim name back.
