The one you buy directly from Royal mail can be sent to you on a CD, which means you actually have a copy hence you can do a lot more with it.
There are cheaper models where for a subscription fee, your site communicate with the site hosting is as required.

There one where you have the CD, is not as up to date as the real-time online one. The real time online one is more expensive. But both of them can be accessed from anywhere in the world.
