Web 2.0 can you mention any of its components?

Is there anyone here who fully understand Web 2.0? I know its supposed to e user generated web, please shed more lights on it anyone if you can.

I'm not a web expert but in my mind the meaning of web 2 is websites which are maintained by its audience. According to this conception the forums are already parts of this WEB 2 madness. Otherwise I don't think that a site would be better if it is marked with some number.

Web 2.0 was really a nothing name that came about after the .com crash. It was decided that the web didn't die with the .com bomb, it was just re-invented when it learned from the mistakes. It was a group of things that noted the old ways were dead and the new ones born.

Payment per click replaced payment per impression
Static 'placed' adverts were replaced by Google adsense contextual ads
Online encyclopedias from the large publishing houses were replaced by Wikipedia for example
Individual publishers working alone and citing each other were replaced by Wikis.
and so n.

Web 2.0 is really about success through collaboration, with 'success' being measured differently by the participents. A forum is a prime example. The forum owner succeeds by getting a successfull site and a marketing tool. members succeed by being able to publish free of charge, by being able to put their POV or business advert in front of others. Everyone gains from the community.

Web 2.0 was is a phrase made to get all the new generation web apps under one name.
We're talking here about blogs, wikis, social networking sites, online community sites.
Their characteristics include use of AJAX, CSS, they are XHTML valid, mod_rewrite, they are hosted on free software (Apache), they have Wikis, tag clouds and things like that.
They also heve RSS/Atom Feeds.
So I'd say Temi you own a couple of sites using Web 2.0 without even knowing.
