How do you value a website or a forum?

Some daft burger offered me $200 to buy www.webmasterserver.com off me (not that I advertise it for sale) it took me quite a while to recover from laughing at his offer, just buying and customising V Bulleting that powers the site alone cost more that $200.
I will be quite interested in hearing from people who have sold a website successfully as to how the website was valued etc etc, just curious.

$ 200.00 for a website is ludicrous. If you were to break down the labor hours and pay by the hour for building a site, that would work out to roughly 10 cents an hour or less.

Tell him to multiply it by 100 and then you'll think about it.

Selling a profitable website at the moment normally works out at 12x monthly income, though some may offer 15x.
