Links back to a Directory

Hello, not sure if this is the right area for this question.

I have a site with a page extension called www... /resources

I am trying to get a free link to this page: http://www.lifestyle.co.uk/add-your-site.htm as they have an ok pr rating which is worth it for free.

but I have to link back to them, do you think it is a good idea to keep this 'non relevant' resources page free for such links?

my original idea for this page was something like this: DIRECTORY_TITLE which incidentally I tried but wouldn't work, I think I needed to add the lin kback to them first?

any help on this would be most appreciated.

You should avoid reciprocal links if possible as its really not very good for your site, but if you MUST have reciprocal links the best way to arrange it is to create a resources page link you suggested and then create sub pages under your resources folder for example
/resources/webdirectories.php
/resources/webdesign.php

And so forth, if you want to link back to a web design company, place their link on the web design page, if you are linking to a directory, place their link on the web directory page and so on.

Advanced webmaster with more than one site tends to do 3 way link exchange as that is quite good compared with direct link exchange. The way this work is as follows, for example, lets say your website is called Hey DJ - Home , you will link to Temi - Webmaster Internet Web Hosting & Domain Name Blogs from your site, and I will link to your site from another of my site for example UnsignedCity.com Promote your band upload your songs advertise your gigs

OK i think I understand that resources page function now... thanks, this makes sense, I will wait for your pm, I might know a few people who would be interested in running this unsigned city website if you like?

erm.. I think I am off to bed shortly, I couldn't sleep well last night for dreams, one in particular where I witnessed a raging house fire and everytime I tried to call the fire brigade the line was busy, really disturbing.

It would be EXCELLENT if you can find someone to run unsignedcity for me, HeyDJ will also benefit tremedoubly from it as I am planning to slap heydj link on every appropriate page at UnsignedCity.

actually just one question...

to squeeze the most out of these link exchanges...

are you saying

funky (pr 5) asks for a link to it from Temi (pr 6) but in return funky links back from unsigned (pr 3) and so funky comes out with the best deal?

or are you saying that pr is not really the issue it's more a case of three sites all linking together are more likely to give each other an equal hand up than say just two struggling on their own?

I will consider the best person for unsigned, I have a couple in mind, if you can provide a list of their duties what they could get back from it (not necessarily cash of course) then I will sound them out and get back to you.

Once you start exchanging links for real, you will see that people are flexible for example I will give you a PR5 link in exchange for a PR3 link in a good page from a site with nice contents rather than a link from a PR6 page with poor contents and very poor page with a mixure viagra and porn links.

There is no rules written in stone, it depends on who you are exchanging links with but most of the time people want like for like, PR5 link on a page with maximum of 10 outgoing link for the same.

One think you need to watch out for when exchanging link is the quality and contents of the page, do not accept link from a page with too many outgoing links, I will say if the outgoing link is over 20 perhaps you should ask for another page.
