yesterday kevin lynch, macromedia's chief software architect, demonstrated the next generation version of the flash player at the macromedia flash conference in tokyo, japan. the packed crowd was the lucky first public audience in the world to witness what's coming next for flash.

only a few features were shown, but already you can see the monumental improvements being made. man, does the next player ever scream.

in the video below you'll see:
-saffron, a new type-rendering engine
-dramatic performance improvements (a sluggish calendar app jumps from 14fps to 125fps)
-realtime bitmap effects (blur, dropshadow, colour matrix etc)
-realtime video alpha channel

Its like a foreign language to me, I was hoping someone who speak flash like you will interpret it for example "-dramatic performance improvements (a sluggish calendar app jumps from 14fps to 125fps) or -"realtime video alpha channel" doesn't not mean anything to me

Temi: download the movie from that url.. and you will see with your own eyes the improvements in the new flash player

- it's faster, it has bitmap effects (just like photoshop or fireworks built in the flash player.. so the size of the movies will drop like a bomb)

lol, i though I put this topic up in the flash section a few days ago, I must of forgot yo send it, lol.

Anyway, the new flash player will have tons of improvements. The biggest one would be speed, allowing many more objects on the stage without slowing the player down!

I have sites that could drop from 300-400k to 100 with the new options in the new flash ) And the speed.. ow my good.. if what we saw in that demo is true.. i can stop thinking about the users with poor PC's.. and that my sites are too "hard" for them . now everybody can see quality flash loaded with graphics )
