If you are starting as a webmaster, keep your domains in one place (e.g. Godaddy) cos when you have over a 100 and you want to manage them, its far easier if they are in one place.

Get a reseller hosting account, messing about with addon domains only works for so long and has some major drawbacks. With a reseller account you can have a FULL hosting account for every domain, and everything that that brings with it.

Get yourself setup some private nameservers, its easier to remember them and looks cool

Also if you have resller account, share some space with other resellers, you can link to your own sites with different ip which is better for search engine status

and also, if you are a begginer and want to try, awardspace.com is a free and fine hosting(it allows 2 domains in one hosting) and uni.cc is a nice, free domain service(your domain will be a subdomain like - domain.uni.cc - but you can use it same as a domain).

enom is another good domain registrar. For hosting, look for reliable and skip cheap & oversell hosting company.

You can get a FREE domain here. It's not a .com one, but it's better than xxx.subdomain.com (in my opinion)
