Default Anyone here serious about making money via the web?

    Just curious...

I'm seeing, "SEO Guru" type posts, plus design posts, which I really appreciate.

Anyone here curious how to throw SEO/Web Design, right out the window and start making money? And yes, I agree, the two go hand in hand. Just wanting to know if a new site owner would like tips on how to produce REAL revenue (Not SEO GURU Talk) via their websites.

I work my a** off, though it's not really, "work", to make a comfortable living via the web. I'm just curious if anyone else needs the info, nor cares. And I know how most folks HATE taking , Money Making" web advice from folks, whom don't earn buss fair from their sites.

    Thank You

    Paul

Aren't we all interested in making money from our sites?

I'd love to put a little cash in my pocket, so long as it doesn't compromise my sites integrity. Not sure if that's entirely possible but intrusive advertising isn't the way for me. By that I mean pop ups, pop unders, scrolling marquees and mouseover wav files. I hate that type of advertising and would rather be broke than use it.

If you have another way of doing it then I'm more than interested.

"By that I mean pop ups, pop unders, scrolling marquees and mouseover wav files"

Man oh Man, are we on the same page or what?

And to all the webmasters out their, whom use these tactics along with, "Can't back out" scripts, "Auto-Download" scripts, etc. -

What I'm talking about, perhaps, is effective ad copy, which blends your advertising right into your content, providing you are receiving targeted traffic.

Instead of all of the, "In your face" advertising, which you explained and we both agree it sux :mad2: , I'd love to hear someone's idea of, "ad copy".

I really hope this post evolves. There is a TON of creativity on this board, and I'm greedy

    Thank You

    Crowebird,

Just a suggestion here. Have you tried to put yourself in your audiences, "Shoes"? Have you thought, outside of online gaming, what some of their other immediate concerns are?

I know of a few MPOG game site owners, whom do very well with, "Anti-Spyware" software, etc. Why? Well, my guess is a lot of the, "Free" games the players download, come bundled with some other little, "Goodies". If you know what I mean :up2:

I'm not saying to put one of the annoying, blinking banners atop every page, but perhaps a couple paragraphs, explaining, "Ad-ware/Spy-ware", then link them to the solution.

Flipping the coin, since your users may be prone to download almost anything, as they're used to downloading games on a daily/weekly basis, write a paragraph or two (Ad copy) about a free screensaver download

BTW, for every person who downloads the free screensaver, you get $4.

    Hope that helps.

Well its an idea, I need to really get some new content, and I finally have some ideas for my site. So i'm starting the complete remake of wtflash.com. If my future games work well I might make them available for download with some "special goodies" to help me make money for the site.

I've seen a few sites that link specific key words in news articles and other site content that links to another site entirely.

ex: say I'm putting news at Lifesupporters and it happens to center around this forum. Well, a reader could click on the word and be re-directed (in a new window) to this site. I could charge a small fee for that service and I'd get some ROI and this site would get increased exposure.

    Duke,

Good idea, and a practice some sites use. If you do this, make sure to have the link, "Pop Up" rather than, potentially, lose a visitor.

    Thanks for your contribution.

If you add title="__" in the html code then whatever message you type in also pops up in a little yellow box.
