Funny directory inclusion cheats

I run a few web directories, one of the directories, you either have to pay for inclusion or link back to my directory if you do not want to pay for inclusion. Its amazing how some silly people think they can full you into including their sites for free. There is a bug in the directory script which means if you enter the directory's own url as you link back destination, the directory sort of credit you to having link back to it.
Other daft cheating techniques I discover includes providing the url of a third party that already linked to the directory as your link back url. Are you a directory owner, do you come across silly cheats like that too?

oh, I didn't know that. I was just about to use a php linking script like that. Don't think I'll bother now.

Doesn't outgoing links help your pr anyway?

If people are linking to you and you linking to them, its fine. If you link to them and they cheat you by not linking to you or linking to you and then removing the link placed to your site, they are cheating you.
Its okay to use a link script, just make sure its one that alerts you when the link partners remove the link to you, I use a script called Info Wizard for my link directory here, its quite good, if the bloody cheating link partner should remove the link to your site, Info Wizard tells you when you run a report on you link exchange partners

but think like that. you can give everybody link, because you have a link directory. but is it true to take link back from a serious company? or a commercial thinker? my suggestion is to make a directory like dmoz.org. no reciprocal link is required for dmoz.org

Since DMOZ already exist, I do not think there is a reason to create another directory like DMOZ.
Also, if you creat a directory and give every one free link without getting anything back, how do you pay for your site maintenace, hosting etc?
