Blair calls BBC coverage 'full of hate of America'
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...c_050917223538
This has been what I've been speaking about as of late.
Anyone ever heard the term 'You are what you eat'? How can we get a fair shake when all of the news sources around the world hate America, and so they pass that on to their readers/viewers, who then accept it as fact? So we ‘believe what we see/read in the media to be true’?
We're normal folks just like anyone else. We wake up, take our Vitamins, turn on the coffee, and get the kids ready for school and then off to work. We then come home, have dinner, read books to our Children, play, etc. and then go to bed.
We're really not bad folks. You're simply being told we are by, essentially the only news source widely available.
Has anyone else read much news outside of the liberal media?

Umm Paul,
I am not sure there is any webmaster related contents in this post, its more suitable for a politics forum. Being offline now and again is okay as long as its not Politics

I didn't think that was political at all. I thought it was a post more about perception of people, rather than politics. And though it's not webmaster related, it wouldn't be the only thread not webmaster related.
I'm simply curious how people view others based on what their TV sets/Newspapers tell them. But if you think it's political, let's drop it. LOL

I often think of the media as being the new "priests".
In the old days the church was the centre of the community, and this gave the organisation sweeping powers over most nations. In the past if there was a substantial dispute between the church and a nation the people could be easily persuaded to protest/overthrow the government. (matter of historic fact).
Nowdays we only protest and take into account what the media bring to our attention and campaign. The media giants are the unseen, most powerful force in many countries today.
So far the internet has remained vastly uncontrolled due to its nature, indiviudals can promote their views online at little cost. It is perhaps the first chink in these media companies armour.

Man, you aren't kidding. And a very large 'chink' at that. Most bloggers are doing it on free blogging sites, so their only cost is their time. And they can say what they want, without worrying about ticking off their advertisers.

BBC doesn't have advertisers it is funded by licence from the governments coffers.
I know Americans are nice people, well they are just people same old same old. Good and bad in us all so to speak. I think the concern is more in gvernment, when I have to stop as we are drifting into politics.

OK, OWG, If you consider corrupt media (OK lol 'biased media'), "politics", but If I were king Paul and all of King Paul's land read King Paul's paper/TV, and if you were on the outside looking in, would you not question King <Cough> Paul?
I like how this thread has not taken a nasty tone, as was my intention.
Thanks in advance, for your opinion.

Is there such a thing as unbiased reporting though? The BBC turned on our own government, and they had a public slanging match with regard the Iraq war. I think that the criticism of the US government by them is as a direct result of the earlier problems with our own government, and the 'special relationship' between both governments.
And the politics I was referring to was discussing governments. It really oesn't help a forum to discuss politics as it is such a heated topic.

Spot on OWG,
It does not help a webmaster forum discuss politics since there hundreds if not thousands of Political forums where political discussion is the theme.

A lot of people on my rugby forum wanted to discuss politics. I allowed it initially, then bocked it 100%. I set up an unmoderated forum and told them to go post there. They have and boy does it get shitty in there sometimes lol.
People sometimes complain to me about the content of it, But I just tell em to go away as it is unmoderated and the motto is.
Once you post it, it stays there.
No one can edit their posts, the idea behind this was to make them think a bit more before they post
