    Default Google Talk

Starting today, Google Talk help you to call, send emails to your friends whenever you want, wherever you are.
The new service need Windows XP or 2000 and a minimum of 56K bandwidth. Mac or Linux users can connect to Google Talk trough other IM clients provided by thirds.
This service is still beta and requires a user and a password of a Gmail account. The aspect of the software made me remember the Linux software in his simplicity of use, not very much functions, but the voice part of the software is extremely well done.
Once our friends download Google Talk, we can talk to them anytime they are online. They can be anywhere in the world, and we can talk for as long as we want.
Calls are made through your computer using the latest voice technology; all you need is an Internet connection, a microphone and a speaker.
Is not a telephony service, so you cannot call emergency calls.

    Facilities:

    - Permanent contact trough email, IM or telephone with friends from all over the world
    - High fidelity in the audio conversation, even we speak trough computer we can hear our friend as he is near us
    - Gmail contacts is pre-loaded in Google Talk
    - You should also be able to use Google Talk at your company, since voice calls should work across any firewall or NAT.

Now all you have to do is to download the software from here: http://www.google.com/talk/index.html
The download is only about 900K and will take a few seconds over broadband or about three minutes over a typical modem

I downloaded Google Talk and tried it a few times. The quality of the sound is far superior to anything I ever tried, better than Skype. The interface is simple. The only shortcoming is the absence of emoticons in te IM, but in the rest Google Talk is the best.
