    Default How to add active channel to your page

    You probably came across many sites that have "Bookmark this site!", "Press CONTROL + D to bookmark!" etc. appearing on their main page. All done in an attempt to help the visitors find their way back later.

    Well, now there is a new rave over the Web and it's the Active Channel used by Internet Explorer. With this (XML), you can simply say: Press this button to bookmark my site.

    Here you'll learn how to set up a simple Active Channel to your site.

    The first thing you do is open up Notepad or whatever you use to make an HTML page. Then type in the following HTML code:

    <CHANNEL HREF="http://www.yourpage.com/">
    <TITLE>Your Page's Title</TITLE>
This is the description of your page.
    </ABSTRACT>
    </CHANNEL>

    Now that this is done, you save the file you've created as something.CDF For example: channel.CDF

    Next you take your something.CDF file and you upload it to your server.

    Now you chose how you want to link to it. You can use a regular text and just put your "somefile.CDF" in the HREF part of the A tag. If you really want to make your site look official, you can put the "Add Active Channel" button below on your page. Just right-click on the button and chose "Save As."

    A lot of content management systems are adding this as a block or module as well.
