    Default The next big thing

The big splash MSN was supposed to make in the search engine market is yet to materialise, Yahoo and Google's dominance is still unchallenged, does anyone care to speculate on what will be the next big thing in the search engine market?

It won't be long before the brainwashed cater on down to MSN's search.

Good News! Brainwashed (Like the early googliods) folks BUY chit, and that's good.

I'm already seeing the zombies, but I hear the CS is a nightmare. I'll have to check on them.

I dont know why MSN didn't make the 'big splash' it was suppose too. I have been using the search engine and found it too be as good as google's, if not better. I think its mainly beacause everyone uses their browsers built in search function and the default is usually google.
Maybe it's a developing splash who knows?

Is it possible that MSN was slightly crippled by the whole chat room fiasco that happened about a year or so ago? I'm not sure if you recall, but they shut down most of their chat rooms because of predators and pediophiles hooking up with kids.

The other thing is that when you talk to anyone about search engines and which they prefer, they almost always say google or Yahoo, rarely MSN. I wonder if this has something to do with relevancy of search results or if their site's just a bit too busy, not sure. I can tell you that I personally love google because all I want is a search page and no other crap floating around on the page. If I want news, I'll watch news or read a paper.

Just my $.02 CDN, worth very little abroad.

Do you think search engine users actually link the chat room thing with the use of a good search engine?

Definately, I bet they also associate it with Windows Messenger that somehow mysteriously activates itself in Windows XP even though you have it deselected at start up.

Duke, their OS – their dibs - their software.

Again, until anyone else comes out with an OS, which comes CLOSE to M$'s, look forward to their DOMANCE for years to come.

Remember, if you buy a Dell peripheral, you'll need to buy dell (Printer) parts in the future. And dells are cheap, right?

Oh I'm not arguing this fact at all. What I'm saying is that you can only put up with something for so long before you either fix the problem or avoid it all together.

MSN are only just beginning to establish a presence. With M$ behind them and the forthcoming 'Longhorn' operating system, expect to see MSN take a chunk of the market in the coming years.
