I remember a post somewhere that was referring to sitemap.xml
files as nonessential. I just read the Google Blog's Sitemap FAQ page, and from the way they discuss sitemaps, it makes me a believer in them as far as a site being fully indexed - without exception. There's some great information on that article. Here's just one point: Quote:

I cant say i have ever used one, on my main site & had no problems at all.

This one works ok and is donationware, Google Sitemap Generator for Windows :: GSiteCrawler
genterates xml, urllist and general sitemap. You can also set it up to schedule and ftp up the new maps.
