One thing that worked for me is to do a search on the moderate (Traffic wise) keywords and optimize for them also. I found some real gems this way.

Common misspellings. I was amazed at the traffic I received, optimizing for common misspellings. There is/was actually a HUGE market for the purchasing of, 'Domain Misspellings".

These are also excellent tools for our PPC search engine campaigns.

Works the same as a toll free number. For example:

If I miss dial the last number when calling my bank I reach an Equity Loan Company NO MATTER WHAT NUMBER I HIT! So I can see how this would be an excellent biz. It would be hit and miss for quality visits but depending on your product or service could be a great source of traffic.
