I have a question on which option is better about writing articles and submit to article directories and submit to free web directories.

Which option is better?

Also, is submitting to new free directories good?

Both of them are good ways for building backlinks though I still prefer Article Submission compared to Directory Submission.

In submitting articles, your site will not just help increase its backlinks but also provide traffic to your site since article directories are often visited by readers. It also provides your site with natural backlinks. Once your well-written article is approved and published in the article directory, that article which includes your links in your resource box may be republished by some other sites/blogs that used to collect relevant and useful articles to their sites/blogs.

Articles by far, BUT if you research your directories properly, then they can bring in traffic as well as link juice.

Your SEO needs to be manual and without any duplication.

Both Article and directory are good, but do not use any automated promotion techniques.

There are softwares which can submit your article to 100 article site. However, all these duplicate articles will count as 1.

Therefore always use manual approach when it comes to SEO.

With good quality content, I say article.
