Yahoo paid $1bn for Chinese auction site
The Alibaba deal ends Yahoo's independent China operations
Web search giant Yahoo has paid $1bn (£556m) for a stake in China's biggest e-commerce firm, Alibaba.com.
The US company will now hold a 40% stake - and 35% of the votes - in the Chinese firm, which runs the country's biggest auction and trading sites.

sounds like the china markets are opening up to the west.
the only problem will be if the chinese ecconomy is too large and strong and ends up dominating us.
should be interesting at any rate, though I doubt the hype over this chinese world domination by ecconomy thing.
Everyone kows japan already owns everything...

Chinese economy dominating us is inevitable, however that will not happen for another 50 years or longer

Yep, they're stealing us blind. Someone needs to put an end to this, and make them play by the rules.

Aisa is very hot these days. Just take a look at apple with itunes in Japan, a direct hit. Napster Japan Plans merging with a Japanese record company. The game War of the Worlds has 1.5 million paying customers in China.
The strong growth that Asia is going into is for the moment unstopable, but the real question is what is Europe going to do? Are we drowning as a economic continent or does our trading mind put us back into the world economy.
But for the USA readers, what will happen if the yuan is no longer linked to the dollar? First staps are already made. http://www.usatoday.com/money/world/2005-07-21-china-usat_x.htm
The things that are happening now in Asia will dominate world economics for at least 10 years or so.
Should I start learning Chinese?? Or is it too late?

I hope not, because that is precise what I love most about Canada, its a fine, calm, nice pluralistic Country without any of those mad extreme Capitalistic, fundamentalism associated with some developed countries especially its neighbout to the south and UK.

Canada is such a nice country, its the kind of country that brings beer to the party and relaxes while other countries like america are fighting a bunch of others.
To be honest I think canada could get away with invading someone, even america, because I doubt anyone in the UN or USA government would actually beleive they did it. They'd just think it was a funny parade or a joke or something....

Private Investigator, you are correct. Canada has such a good reputation worldwide that countries like America and Britain cannot achieve even if they have all the best PR companies in the world working on it.
I hope it stays that way for many years to come.
