£ sign in title

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I couldn't think where to ask.

I'm trying to add a pound sign in my meta title. The character isn't recognised though. I can get round it by adding the html code £

I'm sure you can add a pound sign normally though. Where am I going wrong?

You have to use the HTML symbol code.

Yea, you can use either £ or £ to get it display.

I was sure you could just use a £ sign in the title though.

What character set do you use OWG?
