There are currently 4 ad spots for sale (the 4 boxes at the top).

The text links are standard html text links, which will point directly to your site. You may have a 1 line title and a 4 line description.
The advertisiments will be displayed on every page of the site.

The current price for 1 ad spot is $25 USD/month.

Ken,
MOD is the abbreviation for Modification. By default phpBB is not search engine friendly, most people apply a mod pack that makes it search engine friendly.
If you advertise on a forum that has not been modified to be SEO friendly (Search Engine Optimisation) you will not get much for your money.
But if you advertise on a phpBB forum that has been Modified to be search engine friendly. "You will get lot of bang for your bucks" like our American friends would say

I actually know what it means, I was just wondering where I find such a mod?

Yes, we have added 2 SEO mods. Both of them helps crawling the forum pages.
The first one is one that removes session ID's. And the second one is one that makes the pages end with .html extensions.
