QUESTION about viruses

No, for example I will explain my experience. I have use Fedora Core 3. I have downloaded the ISO from here: fedora.redhat.com and I have installed step by step. Now the install is very very fiendly. Then I configure the firewall trough a friendly graphic interface. It's working very very well, It's very stable, you have a lots of software included, of course free (Open Source)

What do you gain from using Linux? I'm just wondering if it's something I should consider. I am an avid gamer though and do use windows software to create gaming movies from recording, adding effects, editing, publishing, etc. Would it work for me?

As you maybe know there are no many games available on Linux, but software to feet your needs i am sure you can find. Anyway you can have both Windows and Linux on your system.

Yes, It is a great platform.

But the fact that is safe doesn't mean that it is better than Microsoft. It is rather only because a few amount of people use it. Furthermore, the hackers are not interested in attacking it. :armada35:

And another thing, please, remember that you may have to look for Linux drivers for the devices on your PC (before installing it).

Ya these are definately issues that wouldn't make it a sell for me. Maybe if I decided to start hosting my websites from a server in my home then I'd look into Linux, otherwise I'd have to stay with Windows.

Ina, now this driver problem is not a problem anymore, you can find almost all the driver you migh need.

Yes... I think it is a good platform :grin: but I do not know about drivers :roll: , I had several problems to set up my graphic card.

Moreover, I am wondering if Linux is ready to be used in PC by common users. :|

Anyway, i am quite sure that each day more person start to use Linux as a Desktop solution and even more companies.

I think it as well, more and more people are using Linux.

But personally, I think Linux a little complicate for most of surfers. That is all! It is difficult to change people mind and habits.

On the other hand, I am very happy to see that some entreprise switched over to Linux. It is "safe" and FREE.

Right Ina, you have right, it's hard to change the people way of think. if someone use Windows from the begining...ut's hard to change..but not imposible
