Temi,
As advertisers TURN OFF their, "Content Match" feature through Google Adwords, webmasters will be delivering more and more, "Free" ads. The reason advertisers are turning the feature OFF is due to the ROI. Remember back in the day, when banners/buttons/blinking stuff was new? Surfers were intrigued, so they clicked clicked clicked away, but never bought lol. Webmasters were making a killing back then ($50-$100 CPM). Now they're lucky to get $1 CPM. We have now come to call that the, ‘Dot.com Bubble Burstingâ€Â. Last year, Google rolled out their new, "Adsense" program. Content type webmasters jumped all over it, and I don't blame them a bit. At first, they were making a bundle, because advertisers bought the BS sales pitch from Google. And visitors were so intrigued by the new, "Ads by Google". They were clicking, but the ROI was hardly there for most Advertisers, as they were receiving, "Curiosity Clicks" from, "Looky Lou's". This isn't to say some clicks didn't convert, but most who uses adsense as a means of income, will tell you their income has dropped. Why? Because the advertisers dropped and Google also DROPPED SOME OF THEIR MINIMUM BIDS. I see the same cycle with Adsense as I saw with banners, just at a much quicker pace. The only reason I advertise via Google Adwords is to be on AOL & Earthlink. I wish I could turn off the, “Be On Google†feature lol. I don’t want info seekers (Majority of Google Audience). I want buyers/leads. Oh, and I love the terms Google has for the Adsense webmasters, like, "You can't tell others about your clicks/conversions/money made, etc.". That would have to raise A HUGE RED FLAG in my mind. What are they hiding? Are some webmasters making serious money with Adsense? Sure, I bet there's more than a handful. My advice, enjoy it while it lasts... Large ISP’s/Portals see the HUGE profit potential in pay per click search listings. Don’t think for a minute that the likes of AOL, Earthlink and other search partners of Google, will be sharing those large profits for long. MSN will be developing their own search soon, and IMHO they’ll do their own, in house PPC (Bye Bye Overture) or they’ll buy Findwhat.com or one of the other 2nd tier PPC search engines. AOL, IMHO, will do the same thing. As will Netscape, Earthlink, etc. MAMMA.com already did it, as did Lycos. Yahoo had the money to BUY lol Overture, so they scooped em up so they didn’t have to fiddle with their own PPC technology. Then they dumped Google like a dirty diaper. Google makes 98% of its revenue on advertising. What happens to Google when the advertisers leave, and go, “In House†with the likes of AOL/Earthlink/Ask Jeeves, etc? Well, they’ll be left with their own traffic and with the quality of a Google search today, as apposed to one 2 years ago, I see their traffic dwindling. This is all, of course, just my opinion. My 2 Cents Paul

Excellent Analysis Paul,
Though its just your opinion like you said but its also in line with the thinking of most people in the industry. Internet is the most dynamic business today, just look how at the drop of a hat Yahoo stopped using Google search result (IAM VERY VERY HAPPY ABOUT THIS). MSN though a late entrant to the market is tipped to be the next big thing, I look forward to the day when we will have 3 or more major search engine again not the current Google-Yahoo duopoly which is very bad for our business. "Though its just your opinion like you said but its also in line with the thinking of most people in the industry"
   That scares me, as I don't like to be, "in line" with the majority's, "thinking" With the rise in the current stock price, I'd bet my opinion may be a bit, "out of line" with the industry. Think about it for a sec. Every forum you go to it's, "Google" this and, "Google" that. And, "PR" this and, "Backlinks" that. It seems most are so consumed and in awe of the almighty Google. I can understand this, as their SE used to have AWESOME results, and it was a pleasant surprise to sit in front of your PC, with your little children, type in, "Barbie/Snow White, etc." and actually see sites, which feature these fixtures, rather than 50 porn sites. Don't get me wrong, IMHO, it would still be hard NOT to call them the best SE, but I'm not the only one who's opinion of the search results, is that of, "Less Quality" compared to the Google two years ago. IMHO, the reason for the diminishing search results is due to the fact so many are consumed with, "tricking/SEO/Whatever you want to call it" their results, to move sites into the top 10. The problem is, many are very successful at it, thus the SE SPAM. And when the SPAM gets the BAN, the SPAMMER already has a pre-planned site, which they simply SPAM again. And around and around they go. I mean just look at this obsession: http://www.watchinggooglelikeahawk.com/ http://www.pandia.com/sw-2004/40-hijack.html http://www.affiliatejackpot.com/index2.htm <--- at that oneAnd just check out this, "Contest": http://www.seochallenge.com/ http://slashdot.org/articles/04/05/0...217&tid=95 http://abw.infopop.cc/eve/ubb.x?q=Y&...104654&p=1 They had that contest, IMHO, just to find out the techniques used so they could use them, promoting their ROAR/Pageseeker.com PPC search engine, which I would highly discourage anyone from using based on my personal experience. I’m just not buying the whole, “You MUST be ranked high in Google to be successful online†BS ![]() Ok, I'll end my rant. Paul

Paul,
For some reason I refuse to go with the Google or any other hysteria on the net, its usually a fad that fades with time. I have been online since 1997 and I have seem may Google like mania come and go, I remember when Alta Vista was the king, I remember when Yahoo had the largest web directory on the Internet and many other "hysteria". In the not too distant future I will look back at this tread and say "I ember Googlemania, its history now. ![]() Temi

Welcome, Guest
"content is very important for the long term" For the long term of what? Also, you could say everyone has, "Content". It's just that some have, "Content" that sells. Paul

Paul,
I think both you and the Guest are quite righ, it just depend on what your site is about. If you run a site that sells one of two item I don't know how conents being king can apply to your site but if you run a large information portal then your business cannot progress if you do not have good contents Temi
