Well yeah, to create a useable form in html is more time consuming than traditional development languages like Visual Basic. But most interface controls can be created with a bit of time and determination.
It seems to me that many web systems for e-commerce / e-business have a fairly poor standard of usability. One example is the calendar widget that features on lots of web input forms: this is clumsy to use and it is easy to make errors. Poor usability may even be hard to avoid, as HTML offers a very limited toolset for user interface design and implementation, compared with modern operating systems such as Windows XP, Vista and Mac OS X. Do you agree with this assessment? How much impact do you think it has on e-business? In what ways does it affect organisations and individuals? Are there technical solutions that could improve things for the web user?
