Default PayPal only payment policy eBay forced to delay

Auction website eBay has delayed plans to make Australian users pay for items solely via the firm's Paypal service after the country's regulator objected.
The Australian Consumer and Competition Commission (ACCC) said competition could be hurt if eBay went ahead with the switch to a single payment method.
EBay said the plan would provide buyers and sellers with more security and said it would lodge an appeal.
The company had planned to introduce the change on 17 June.
Australia was to be the first country to see the roll-out of eBay's Paypal-only plan, which would effectively block other payment services from seeking a share of the lucrative online market.

It will not be allowed in the Uk as it is anti competitive. I can see Microsoft jumping in here and stealing a market.

Does Microsoft have a payment gateway system yet? Google Checkout hasn't even really gotten very popular but then eBay won't let users use anything other that PayPal for a credit card gateway.

I meant jumping in and stealing the Ebay market via a free auction system. EVERYONE I know is complaining that Ebay is expensive, and if they are now forcing paypal on people then it will be more expensive than amazon.

Time for someone to move in on their core market.

Ah ok. Yahoo's auction system has been free for a year or two now. Although eBay crushed their market. I can't really see anyone else stealing it for free. I'm sure Google could if they were smart enough.

Yea I use to complain about it. No point in complaining anymore, I just hope someone does hurt their market stance at some point. Monopolies suck.
