    Default OSCommerce anyone using it?

A few years ago, oscommerce was huge, it was "The" free eCommerce shopping cart, it does not seem to be the case any more, whatever happened?

Does anyone here still use OSCommerce to power their shop?

I use to use osCommerce, years ago. The one I use now is ViArt Shop. It's the best I've seen in awhile. It's also made from a UK Dev team...

Well the dev team at osCommerce are taking way too long for their new version. I think it's going on 2 years now. Actually I think they may have stopped development on it.

My impression is that they have stopped as well, there has been nothing from them for over 2 years like you said.

OSCommerce had a split in the team as they saw the project going in different directions. Some stayed, others left and formed the Zen Cart team.

If you are thinking of using OSC, then the only version to consider is the CRE loaded version as this is a hell of a lot better and is what OSC should have been. Not quite right, but almost there.

Personally I use Zen (i really should have a good look at Bosscart). in fact we are building 3 sites with zen at the moment.

I had a project based on OSC, but I do not really like this oscommerce that much.

I use virtuemart, far more flexible - design and usability.

i agree - oscommerce has not been developed much lately. Zen cart, i would say, is an advanced version of oscommerce. But there's more shopping carts to choose from: Magento and Pinnacle cart are quite popular at this time.

Whenever you make up your mind on one of them please consider our web service to assist you in migration to the shopping cart of your choice - cart2cart.
