Nochex survive blackmail

Monday 23 August 2004 was a normal day in the office for Asif Malik, security director of online payment firm Nochex.

That is until an e-mail popped into his inbox at 7pm when most of his colleagues had gone home for the night.

wow, very interseting, it's great to see that they were able to fight back, even if it is at a great cost.

I think the worst thing they could have done is to give in.

agreed, it's to bad that companies have felt compelled to do that in the past. Even though it would have meant losses, it still encourages these hackers to continue on with this sort of behavior.

It has not been a cheap option for Nochex. In fact, with an initial cost of £20,000 and a further £3,000 a month, it would have been cheaper to pay off the hijackers.

No wonder so many sites go down because of hackers if it costs this much to keep them away! Its to easy for hackers and Terrorists to cause problems ..there must be a better soloution ...
