Dot LA domain

Has anyone here ever heard of dot la (.la) or own a .la domain name? Apparently is the domain extension for Los Angeles, one of the very few cities to have their own domain extension

I've never ever heard of a LA extension, I don't think cities should have their own extension, I'd rather stick to the ones we already have (eg. com, net, eu etc..)

Well, I don't know how LA pulled it off but there is a .la domain extension here is the official registry: The Official .LA Registry - www.la

I will not pay a fraction of that. They seem to be using the .tv model of domain name pricing, the price of domains are not fixed, its based on how desirable the domain name is.

I wouldn't, no wonder mine was relatively cheap, I was having a look at "hahaha.la" and it was quite cheap, but no way I would pay $10k a year in order to get that domain. If it was a .COM it would be different.

Most likely they just registered most of the popular names themselves and looking for suckers now: girls.la - 50K, escort.la - 50K

I guess this industry can afford such prices...

Well, just for the heck of it and so that I can say I have a two character domain name, I just bough uk.la , don't know what I will do with it but hey, I own and 2 character domain name
